Hastings Police Station is a three-storey, IL3+ building serving the Hawkes Bay community
Braced steel frames make up the building’s gravity and lateral systems. The lower two floors comprise Buckling Restrained Braces (BRB) manufactured in the U.S., the top floor adopted CHS to achieve a uniform look while being cost effective.

Lucia was a key member of the structural team from Developed Design - when the performance criteria of the building was agreed between the client and the consultant team. This was the crucial metric that made the project feasible in costs.
Lucia looked after the project throughout its design and construction, coordinated the structural components and details between Corebrace based in Idaho (manufacturer of the BRBs) and the local MCL Construction.
